Kallitaxila granulata
Just before sundown today, I spotted and took pictures of a 6mm tortoise beetle (Family Chrysomelidae). But when I checked the pictures in my computer, I was totally surprised that the beetle was neatly sitting there beside a grainy planthopper (a polyphagous planthopper) (Kallitaxila granulata (Stål, 1870)). Just found out today the ID of this planthopper! The 4th picture was taken without a flash. Sources: http://cookislands.bishopmuseum.org/spec..., http://www1.dpi.nsw.gov.au/keys/fulgor/t.... Classification: Arthropods (Arthropoda) » Insects (Insecta) » True Bugs, Cicadas, Hoppers, Aphids and Allies (Hemiptera) » Free-living Hemipterans (Suborder Auchenorrhyncha) » Planthoppers (Superfamily Fulgoroidea) » Tropiduchid Planthoppers (Family Tropiduchidae) » Genus Kallitaxila » Species Kallitaxila granulata.
Spotted in the backyard on camote tops (sweet potato plant).
