unknown beetle

Description:

Small, black beetle between 3-4 cm long. Yellow fuzzy underbelly.

Habitat:

On the edge of the high mountain city of Xela in Guatemala, this beetle suddenly flew into a third story room with open windows. It was a chill day in June, and it had been raining heavily.

Notes:

This bug initially was crawling along the floor after landing, but slowed and then flipped over. After some prodding, and then an attempt to scoop it up on paper and get it back to the window, it became evident that he had died.
