Centropus monachus
Larger Coucal, about 40 to 45 cm in height. Coppery-chestnut unbarred uppercovers in adult (two first photos), little darker bars on on uppercovers in immature birds (two last photos). Whitish or cream underparts (necj, chest and belly), with black crown and nape - under direct sun, this black has distinctive blue iridescent tinge.
Found in wooded area of Awassa town park - quite a large wooded swampy area bordering the lake.
