Chaffinch

Fringilla coelebs

Description:

Small songbird, size of sparrow, of finch family, Fringillidae. Male, Pics N° 1 and 5, with brighter colors.

Habitat:

Seen in canopy of trees in our garden, in semi-urban, or rather suburban setting, small town somewhere in between slope of Jura Mountain and Geneva lake; very close to wooded areas and cultivated fields. I had the impression I see more of them from year to year, because of our feeders?? We maintain some 25 feeders in the garden, mainly with grease, grease + grain, grease + insects, peanuts and grain; plus some feeding and watering spots on our windowsills and balcony...
