Acrotaphus fuscipennis
Cuba extending into South Florida. I'm assuming where their host is found in parks, gardens, wooded areas. According to this article (pages 4 and 6 of 8) their larvae seem to parasitize Neoscona sp. of Orb weaver spiders. http://digitalcommons.unl.edu/cgi/viewco...
I noticed this little guy erratically flying and landing on this leaf. On closer inspection, there was a small ant securely clamped on one of its fore legs that was not letting go. Pic 3 shows it best. After a few photos it flew off with the ant in tow.
