Kaiser's Spotted Newt

Description:

A kaiser's spotted newt at the Tulsa Zoo. This species is Critically Endangered. In fact this specimen is at the Tulsa Zoo as part of a breeding program to bring its numbers back up. Like many amphibians, this species is prohibited to move through US state lines. As of 2016, eggs may legally be shipped.

Habitat:

It is endemic to the southern Zagros Mountains in Iran where it is known from just four streams.
