Orange Clouded Yellow

Colias miranda

Description:

Wing length: about 30 mm.

Habitat:

Vast alpine desert, with few scattered ground-sticking vegetation including small Primula, etc. High speed wind comes soon after some 3 - 4 hours of morning quiet. This butterfly was spotted by the bank of Gurudongmar Lake, a lake situated at an altitude of 17,100 ft.

Notes:

This beautiful Orange Clouded Yellow came dashing next to me in that cold and windy moment and rested itself for a few seconds as if to pose for me. It couldn't even hold its wings vertical due the gusty wind!
