Snow Pigeon

Columba leuconota

Habitat:

Very cold, semi-desert region, most areas still snow covered. Altitude: 15,600ft.

Notes:

This pair of wild pigeons were spotted at a high altitude (15,600ft.) tourist spot. They come here, perhaps to feed on wastes thrown by tourists. Strangely, I saw this pair follow us to quite a distance. They may be hungry. The usual scene of hordes of tourists flocking to this place day after day during this season has stopped for couple of weeks due to landslides along the roads.
