Coati or Pizote

Nastua narica

Description:

This is a coati in our yard this morning eating some kind of fruit / seed pod. An ID of the fruit that he is eating would be appreciated. The coati is active during the day, and often travels in groups. They are very good tree climbers.

Habitat:

Jungle slopes along both Pacific and Caribbean coasts.

Notes:

He kept a close eye on our dogs, but was not too concerned.
