Ring-necked Duck

Aythya collaris

Description:

Males are black head, breast, black and tail. Grey patterned flanks and white area between grey flanks and breast with white on chest and belly. Dark yellow eyes and dark grey bill with white ring near end of bill and white around base of bill. Top of head is peaked and neck is almost stiff looking. Females are two tone brown with light brown around base of bill.

Habitat:

These were spotted in an urban pond.
