Memecylon umbellatum var.
I got the ID with a third part name as 'var.'- Variety The var is apart from subspecies. New for me. Can any botanists explain in detail. I think 'Var.' because the unripened fruits are red;usually it will be green.

But I found this species inside a forest.(It is not used in Garden.Such a beautiful species; No idea why people left it.)
I got a Id from the google group member has doctorate in the species Memecylon.
When I studied Taxonomy...and that is decades ago, sub species was the lowest that was officially recognized. Variety was limited to what local nurseries would breed and advertize as. As far as I recall a species was a group of animal that could breed with one another...and if separated geographically or otherwise that splinter population group sometime (over time) accumulated enough differences to qualify as a sub-species...and then, MAYBE over time again....it could go on to evolve into a separately recognized species. All hazy memories of classroom.
