Burrowing Owl

Athene cunicularia

Description:

Light brown & white back with some cinnamon spots. Face, throat and belly white. Wings spotted with large whitish dots. Brown tail with whitish bars.

Habitat:

Diurnal and nocturnal. Singly or inpairs on the ground or fence posts in open fields with short grass. Makes burrows in the ground for nesting and breeding. Poses with it's body erect.
