The Chestnut-backed chickadee is a small songbird. It can be told apart from the other chickadee species by its call, the chestnut coloring on its back and the dark brown/black coloration on head.
Year round resident in the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada. Prefers wooded areas at high altitudes in summer. Wooded areas at lower altitudes in winter.
