Aspidimorpha sancticrucis
Very conspicuous by its dazzling colours - golden and sparkling, especially under the sun. Flies (hovers) upto a distance of 8 - 10ft. Restlessly moves around on the leaves it lands. When disturbed it withdraws its antennae and all limbs and remains still. Length: 15mm.
Hot and humid area, with thick bush underneath forests. A small stream flowing by. Altitude: very low (1,000 - 2,000ft).
While coming back from a medical camp I stopped by the roadside on seeing some butterflies. While I was busy taking butterfly photos my daughter noticed an extraordinary beetle flying by. Well, I never imagined that I'll be seeing this particular jewel in my entire life! And here I'm sharing with you all!

Thanks beaker. Seen so many photos on PN pages, but never imagined one day I'll see this and post on a PN page! Thanks to my daughter, Peden whose keen eyes spotted this jewel flying around!
A beautiful photo! I love tortoise beetles😄
