Turdus merula
An european species of thrush; the male, portrayed here, is easily recognized, all black with a yellow bill and a yellow ring around the eye.
Common all over Europe and Asia, as well as North Africa, where it is native. It was introduced in other parts of the world. Here, observed on edges of beautiful and protected 'Bois du Faisan' forest (somewhat mixed, but predominantly deciduous forest, a lot of oak). The forest is located in lowlands around the lake Geneva (lac Leman), just in between Jura and Alps mountains ranges.
