Aglaoctenus lagotis

Aglaoctenus lagotis

Description:

A medium size spider, maybe 4 cm. A lot of this nest are spread in the ground of the Yungas forest. They have the shape of a funnel, or cone, with a hole in the middle, where the spider is hidden. The size of this mouth is several times larger than the spider. The spider belongs to the order Araneae, family Lycosidae.

Habitat:

In the ground of the forest of Yungas, the nest is built in the leaf litter layer. In this case, this female was out of the den and I could take this picture.
