Tau Emerald

Hemicordulia tau

Description:

A long and slender dragon with black metallic pattern over yellow colour. The eyes are brown/red. 50mm length. Strong flyers and restless in nature, I was lucky to finally capture one during a very brief rest.

Habitat:

Can be found throughout the whole country. This one seen and photographed in foliage next to a creek.

Notes:

Originally, I placed an ID on this specimen of Tau Emerald, but further input from insect groups has given me conflicting advice. Australian Emerald has also been suggested (Hemicordulia australiae), equally others are sure the original ID remains correct.

No species ID suggestions
