Amanita

Amanita sp.

Description:

This pale apricot coloured amanita had a cap about 60 mm wide. The cap was covered by pale yellow and orange appressed scales. The stout stipe had a bulbous base and a thick skirt like ring which was striated. Gills were cream.

Habitat:

Spotted growing amongst native grass and under native trees.

Notes:

This is said to be one of the large Australian Amanitas that have not been identified as yet. It is a beautiful variety with its apricot colour against the green of the long native grass.
