Eastern Painted Turtle

Chrysemys picta picta

Description:

Medium-sized turtle with a dark shell that has olive lines running across the carapace, dividing the large scutes. The margin of both the carapace and plastron have black and red markings. The head, neck, and legs have yellow stripes. I couldn't see the plastron, but it should be yellow-orange in color.

Habitat:

Basking on a log in a small pond.

Thanks :). There were several turtles basking on this log, but all except this one were scared away when I approached the pond.
