Sporophila caerulescens

Description:

Also known as collared, coleirinha, grazledon, Pope tui-tui or rice. It is the group's most popular species of grass-Pope, being also the most abundant in most places where it occurs. Etymology: Sporophila - spores from Greek philos = + = seed that has taste or predilection; caerulescens - the Latin caerulescens = bluish. [FRISCH, 338] Like all other members of the genus Sporophila, can be called "grazledon" accompanied by some other adjective. Sporo is seed and phila come from phyllo meaning affinity. would actually be the "seeds that have affinity" or "grazledon." The name means blue caerulescens, possibly by the intensity of their black feathers possess a bluish tint.

Habitat:

Their habitat is open fields and grasslands, occurring in almost all Brazil, with the exception of the Amazon and Nordeste.E even in urban areas.
