Fantastic spotting, well done!

Sorry to confuse you, I put in the wrong scientific name so have corrected it. Sometimes the two species are considered variations of the same species so it is worth checking some recent official literature as my books are more than 10 years old.
Here is a copy of the 2014 Clements listing, note they have changes to the common name here.
10750 species Barnardius zonarius Port Lincoln Parrot
10751 group (monotypic) Barnardius zonarius semitorquatus Port Lincoln Parrot (Twenty-eight) Extreme w Western Australia
10752 group (polytypic) Barnardius zonarius occidentalis/zonarius Port Lincoln Parrot (Port Lincoln)
10753 subspecies Barnardius zonarius occidentalis west central Western Australia
10754 subspecies Barnardius zonarius zonarius W Australia to s-c Northern Territory and s-c South Australia
10755 species Barnardius barnardi Mallee Ringneck
10756 group (polytypic) Barnardius barnardi barnardi/whitei Mallee Ringneck (Mallee)
10757 subspecies Barnardius barnardi whitei South Australia (Flinders Range)
10758 subspecies Barnardius barnardi barnardi Interior of se Australia (except in range of whitei)
10759 group (monotypic) Barnardius barnardi macgillivrayi Mallee Ringneck (Cloncurry) N Australia (e Northern Territory and adj. nw Queensland)

It does not look right for a Rainbow, but as there are many different species there I need to check further to see what you can expect in your area. Rainbows have an all blue head, red & yellow upper breast blue lower breast, green wings without the grey tips and no yellowish neck collar.
