Eugenes fulgens
Feeder in pine forest at 8,000 ft. elevation
This is truly a magnificent hummingbird! I wasn't able to get any good photos of this very large hummer before he left. There were a number of broad-tailed hummers at the feeders as well, but they flew away as soon as the Magnificent came in to drink. I was very excited to see this lifer and get decent photos. The first shot shows off the green gorget pretty well and the second shows you the purple forehead. He was seen at the Iron Door Restaurant across from the ski valley on Mt. Lemmon. Definitely check out the restaurant when your up there. It has good food, good birds, and a nice patio to eat on which is lined with feeders.

Thanks Des. And Keith, I'm sorry the restaurant wasn't open, funny coincidence that you were out here around the same time as I was! Hope you enjoyed the scenery and the wildlife!
Awesome Josh! They are much better here!!!
Hey, I was just up there today. Turns out they are closed on Wednesdays, but still a nice drive to get to the top.
