Chris Ang's Leaf Insect

Phyllium chrisangi

Description:

Leaf Insects of the species Phyllium chrisangi. This species was newly described in 2017 by Dr Francis Seow Choen after the person who first discovered it, Chris Ang from Singapore. Pic#1 taken using back-lit to illustrate that although Leaf Insects looks like they have wider abdomens, in essence, their abdomen is similar to other Phasmids just that they have wider 'lobe/appendages' which are very thin with markings that makes them looks like leafs, for perfect camouflage.

Habitat:

Tropical forest near to mangrove swamps. Endemic to Singapore.
