Description:

This is a species of moss found in many regions with high humidity and rainfall.

Habitat:

Humid part of spruce forest.

Notes:

Most mosses simply have a single plate of cells on the leaf surface, but common hair moss has more highly differentiated photosynthetic tissue. This is an example of a xeromorphic adaption, an adaptation for dry conditions
