Notechis scutatus
A locally abundant snake in and around Melbourne if you find the right areas. They are well-known to be 'aggressive' snakes but I think 'very defensive' is a much more accurate description. Aggressive or defensive, either way it makes for great photo opportunities.

Congratulations, Kristian!!
Great capture - congratulations!
Beautiful capture Kristian, congrats on the SOTD,thanks for sharing
I can attest to both their aggressiveness, since I've been chased by one, and their unwillingness to actually bite, since it always pulled up short. And yes, the cobra hood thing is impressive. Our Tasmanian ones tend to be primarily black or dark grey.
congratulations Kristian on your SOTD, great pic
Congratulations Kristian, this awesome capture has earned you a well-deserved spotting of the day!
Though highly venomous, tiger snakes will usually act out an impressive threat display before attempting to bite. This begins with flattening of the neck and loud hissing followed by mock strikes.
