Description:

Males yellow with brown markings and large "owl" eyes on the underwing, with red and black. Males a little smaller than females. Host: Deciduous trees, shrubs, and plants including clover, corn, maple, oak, willow and redbud.

Habitat:

Woodland

Notes:

I reared io moths the year before and this was the first male to eclose. I marked him and released.

Thank you Seema. Yes EnvUnlimited, the reaction could be painful to some. I brushed against one once and it was like a stinging nettle reaction for me. Not too bad.
