Ardea herodias
Height: Fairly large. Approximately 3 1/2 ' tall. Head: White with a dark blue-ish-black band across the eyes. There are long dark feathers protruding from the back of the head, extending from the eye band. The neck is long and shaped like a backwards S. Eyes: Yellow and somewhat beady looking. Bill: Orange. Plumage: A grey-blue color. The feathers on the wings and neck are long and have a wispy and shaggy appearance.There are a blue-ish black patch of plumage on the tops of the wings.
Pacific coastal area. Tropical like climate. Urban Park.
Amazing Bird.These 2 photos are of the same bird. The Great Blue Heron is the largest Bird in Canada.
