If you think winter is drab, your eyes are open without seeing. This native redbud with light shinning through the seed pods tells a story about life, possibly baby trees from all the seeds! The purple flowers on these trees are a major spectacle in the spring. The flowers are also edible.

I just planted a few redbuds. Can't wait to see them with the pods. Mine are not natives.
