Starry False Solomon's Seal

Maianthemum stellatum

Description:

Greenish berries with purple stripes.

Habitat:

Found in a wildflower meadow.

Notes:

I think this is probably Starry False Solomon's Seal (Maianthemum stellatum) rather than plain False Solomon's Seal (Maianthemum racemosum), mostly because of the narrower leaves and the way the base of the leaves cling to the stem. I saw these same plants a month ago when they were flowering, and the flowers, arranged on a raceme, were star-shaped, with only up to about 20 on each plant. http://eol.org/pages/1003676/overview Starry False Solomon's Seal is also called Starry False Lily of The Valley.

These berries look a lot like the ones I see in photos of False Solomon's Seal, except that these have red stripes, and in the photos I see online, the stripes are dark purple/black. I expect that they will turn bright red by the end of the summer. I'd love to know if these are edible...
