Sinai Rosefinch

Carpodacus synoicus

Description:

Male with pink plumage on the face, crown, and underparts. Species first discovered in south Sinai. Called 'gazam' by the local Jebaleyya tribe.

Habitat:

Dry, rocky areas; found in the high mountains of south Sinai but nowhere else in Egypt. Spotted in Wadi Arbaeen in St. Katherine's Protectorate.
