small insect covered in waxy hairs. you can see its head and body a bit in photo #3. I think its a nymph in the Flatidae family
miombo woodlands, 1000m
I spotted this at Namizimu forest reserve.

I see it now, looks more like a lady beetle larva but I'm not sure if it's a Cryptolaemus species.
The leg arrangement also looks more like a lady beetle larva than a Flatidae nymph.

vs. Tribe Scymnini. There are more than just the Cryptolaemus that have waxy larvae.

I imagine there are similar species in Malawi.
I appreciate the input Forest and Sergio. It didn't jump. I've looked at some Cryptolaemus but to me it still looks more like a Flatidae nymph. Unless you have some links showing more detail.
This is a mealybug destroyer, a kind of ladybeetle larva. (Cryptolaemus sp.).
Or perhaps a lady beetle larva (similar to Cryptoleamus sp.)
Did it jump or just crawl?
With a face like that, I am more inclined to think this is a lacewing larva. Not sure of the species.
