We're all learning Sergio. My first thought when I saw this orthopteran was the image you posted from the other side of our planet. They don't bother to stay in our taxonomic categories do they?
Well, Martin, this is a whole new world for me, you know, I am still learning. First, your spotting matches perfectly the one in that website, it must be the same cricket. Second, I also spotted a very similar one: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/836... , which I wrongly ID'd as a grasshopper (I'll let the ID open on this one untill I get more info). And third, the photos in this spotting - http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/166... - are too dark, but I think that it could be the same type of cricket. Now that you gave me a direction to go, I'll look for more info. Thank you very much, it is very good to know what we are dealing with.
I suppose the fact that this is arboreal lends support to the katydid theory.
They also occur in south America http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/166...
