Description:

Large bee with a furry yellow thorax. Black head and abdomen with little hair. Males of this species have a yellow face. These bees build their nests in dry standing wood.

Habitat:

Semi-rural yard in the garden area.

Notes:

Hovering. Spotted while visiting friends in PA.
