Black Milkvetch

Description:

A really lovely purple flower growing on the edge of Bryce Canyon Amphitheater. This flower is also called the Funeral Mountain Milkvetch after the site in Death Valley where the flower was first identified. It is low growing with furry leaves and flower inflorescences covered in black hairs. The flower is tubular with lavender petals with pink markings. Family Fabaceae.

Habitat:

Rim Trail, Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah.
