Description:

Highly variable with many subspecies. Pacific Northwest region has the morphna races which are darker, redder than some other areas. Answers to pushing with its "chimp" call and will readily show itself to any perceived intruders by flying in and chimping from a visible perch until it is sure that there is no danger.

Habitat:

Defend breeding territory aggressively from other Song Sparrows.

Notes:

One of our most common year round sparrows in our area.
