Hi Jonathan, I found species in my book "A Guide to Lories & Lorikeets by Peter Odekerken" the colouring lends itself to a Green-Naped Lorikeet. Just like the Rainbow Lorikeet they are often sold as pets.
I have remove the sun conure picture. Now you have the right spottting for the rainbow parekeet and I see you already have the sun conure in another spotting. Thanks :-)
Dear Jonathan: you may wat to split your spottings with each of thetwo pics you have. The first corresponds to sun conures (identification suggested above) and the second to rainbow lorikeet.
I agree with ShannaB, the first is a Sun Parakeet and the second is a Rainbow Lorikeet but a subspecies, am looking in my books to try and find a match.
Hi again Jonathan, thanks for updating your spotting! I've done a bit of research - I think your first picture might be Sun Parakeets (Aratinga solstitialis), while the second is a Rainbow Lorikeet. Here are some resources so you can take a look: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_Parakee... http://www.parrots.org/index.php/encyclo... You should split this spotting into two - maybe delete the picture of the Sun Parakeets and upload it separately as a new spotting.
Hi Jonathan, welcome to Project Noah! Great pictures - are these captive-bred birds? The colours are very unusual. If they are captive you can make a note of this in the Notes section, and you may also like to add your spotting to the Captive Animals Mission at http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/7973...
