Wolf Spider

Arctosa littoralis

Description:

Roughly 20-25mm in size. Light Grey/Dark grey with black stripe pattern. Black and light grey spots on rear. Triangle like shape on back.

Habitat:

Rivers, Forest, Foothills

Notes:

Found while walking along the river. Very fast spider, one of the fastest I have yet seen. It stopped for just a second to take this photo before it was gone out of sight. I find it fascinating that it could go lighting fast to a dead stop with what appears to be no prior slow down in motion.
