Barn Owl (pellets)

Tyto alba

Description:

Some bird can't digest everything they eat. These are pellets that could contain fur, bones, teeth and claws. They are formed in the stomach of the bird and regurgitate which may scour (clean) the digestive tract as it passes. This usually can take up to 6 hours after the bird's meal. Students and Ornithologists may collect these to see the eating habits of the bird. These pellets were found at the base of a Palm tree where an Barn Owl has made it's home.
