Tiny Shrub Frog

Philautus sp.

Description:

Found this guy near a small pond. Wish i had a macro lens, so i could have taken some better photos. These are some of the smallest frogs found in Sri Lanka and they are unique because they do not have a tadpole stage.

thank you all for your lovely comments :)

It is such a cute tiny frog, and now that you said that they are "unique because they do not have a tadpole stage" I am even more interested in learning about them.Thank you for sharing such a gorgeous spotting.

Nice! Reminds of the little Frogs we would find @ our 'secret' swimming hole when we were kids. There were literally hundreds of these little ones, just like yours. They were a Brownish color.
Now that I look back, I can't believe my Brother's and I used to swim in there.
It was more like a giant mud hole. Ha!

Wow its minute...hard to comprehend that an organism that small has all its functioning parts squeezed into such a tiny body!!
