Dolichonyx oryzivorus
Spotting #900!
Open field along river.
This male was singing and displaying along with many other males for females in this large long grass field and when a female would fly up from the ground three or more males would chase after her singing their bubbling song then fly back down to bushes along the field. Though common in open fields throughout North America this species is slowly declining from habitat loss and early cutting of fields in the spring that destroy their nests.
