Congratulations Ivan, your mating White-legged Damselflies are our Spotting of the Day:
"It's Valentine's Day and love is in the air in our Spotting of the Day! This pair of White-legged Damselflies (Platycnemis pennipes) is seen in the "heart" or "wheel" position, where the female (below), which is held by the head by claspers located at the end of the male's abdomen, is receiving sperm from the male secondary sex organ located near the base of his abdomen. This figure is part of the elaborate process involved in the mating of damselflies and dragonflies. In the White-legged Damselfly mating is initiated by the male displaying his white legs in a fluttering flight".
