Large tortoiseshell

Description:

The large tortoiseshell (Nymphalis polychloros) is a butterfly of the family Nymphalidae. Summer in Epirus region was very rainy and the butterfly was spotted while she was resting in a cupboard of an old abandoned building. She will probably hibernate in a such a refuge, and fly again next spring. Spotted near Athamanio village, Tzoumerka mountains, Epirus region, Greece.
