Red Tiger Assassin Bug

Havinthus rufovarius

Description:

About 18mm in length, with black and red aposematic colouration. It wasn't at all fussed by my moving around with the camera and taking shots. It is probably able to deliver a painful bite, which it advertises through its colouration, and therefore rather confident in the presence of another large animal.

Habitat:

Found on a tree trunk on a cattle station, in area of tropical grassland with few trees.
