Indian Tortoiseshell

Aglais kaschmirensis

Description:

colourful butterfly with a wingspan of 52–63 mm

Habitat:

montane forest, 2000m

Notes:

My first spotting from Nepal. I saw this in Shivapuri Nagarjon National Park near Kathmandu. Being the end of November, there wasn't many butterflies around at this altitude but this species was somewhat common.
