Spotting

Notes:

I can't decide if this is a Ladder-backed or Downy Woodpecker. There was no red, so I'm guessing its a female.

Hi Cammie, I would like to invite you to my mission for the Woodpeckers of North America: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/7122...

The thick, white stripe down the center of the back tells you this is either a downy or hairy woodpecker. Then the short bill tells you this is a downy woodpecker. And you are correct about it being a female from the lack of red.
