Common Collared Lizard

Crotaphytus collaris

Description:

Common Collared Lizard (AKA Oklahoma Collared Lizard) spotted in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge near Fort Sill/Lawton Oklahoma. I believe this coloration is that of males of the species. I also have a picture of the more drab colored female posted here: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/177... I have seen several of these but this is the first to display such bright coloring. This particular guy was spotted near the summit of Mount Scott, a small mountain in the refuge.
