Zammara smaragdula
This cicada measures around 2" long with the wings. Quite frankly, I am amazed by the coloration...red, blues, greens, this is a wonderful speciman.
Tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica 5 months into the 6 month rainy season.
Hi Larry, I come back with my previous suggestion! It is indeed Zammara smaragdula, now confirmed!
Never!! Uups! Sorry, Larry and Scott, it is certainly Emerald Cicada!! I will change that!
Might also be Smaragdula! I asked for confirmation by an expert. Let's wait and see...
Very close to Zammara smaragdina and Zammara smaragdula.
