Echidna

Tachyglossidae

Notes:

We found this echidna on the side of the Manjimup highway, it was very difficult to pick up but we eventually did and put it into a bucket so that we could take it away from the road. We think that it might have been hit by a car. After catching the echidna we released it into a national park.

Its always good to see these ancient creatures. Sometimes they are quite common. Do you have a story with this one Chloe? It seems to have taken a bump and broken some spines. (The spines are modified hairs)
