Ardea herodias
The Great Blue Heron is the largest heron in North America. It's plumage is slate-gray, with chestnut and black accents. It is a large bird with very long legs and neck. In flight it has a six-foot wingspan.
The Great Blue Herons reside in both saltwater and freshwater habitats, to include marshes, rivers, lakes, and ponds.

Excellent addition to the Phinizy Swamp Plants and Animals Mission. I see these regularly at Phinizy and Brick Pond, but I always have to snap a shot.
