Leontopodium alpinum

Description:

Herbaceous plant, small (aprox 15cm tall), flowers and leaves covered with fine white hair, like wool. Each bloom consists of five to six small yellow clustered spikelet-florets (5 mm) surrounded by fuzzy white "petals" (technically, bracts) in a double-star formation. Mid-season aspect.

Habitat:

Alpine meadow at ~ 1750m altitude.

Notes:

Oddly enough, there weren't many rocks nearby.
